Remember my reference to creating art after meeting someone in a restaurant? This is it! I met a wonderful woman at Vero Amore, a restaurant in Tucson, who was admiring one of my hand-painted purses that I was wearing. We exchanged information, and she asked if I could create a small custom canvas painting for her home. We worked through some preferences and this piece was born! It is a fun memory that I will always enjoy looking back on.

This was a fun project to paint. A woman reached out to me on social media and we worked to create this special piece. She gave me artistic freedom, but wanted for me to definitely include a javelina mom and baby, to represent her and her daughter, and saguaros among a deep sunset. It was to symbolize their new beginnings, and I was honored to be a part of it.

As many of my paintings begin, pet portraits started as a fun thing for me to create of my own fur-babies. Once people saw that I did it on social media, people reached out to see if I could do portraits of their own pets. This one was one of my absolute favorites, for a gal and her cat in California. After receiving some reference photos and preferences for background color, the portrait all came together! It was so much fun and turned out so realistic. I love being able to branch outside of my typical desert scenes.

Javelinas have always had a special place in my heart, so creating this piece and really being able to dedicate time to putting so many details and brush strokes into creating these javelinas was not only fun and enjoyable, but almost therapeutic in a way.

This was one of my largest and most detailed desert scenes to date. There were so many layers to this piece, unique colors, and such small details to add to really bring the cacti to life. The pieces, honestly, started as random pink and yellow globs of paint spread out all over the canvas. Eventually, the vision came to life!
